  Keener Takes Helm of AAB

Barb Keener '67Barb Keener ’67, recently elected head of the Alumni Association Board, says she’s looking forward to garnering alumni support for President Richard F. Celeste’s Vision 2010 initiative. “It is an exemplary initiative engaging all of us, and seems to beckon our alumni network to broaden our collaboration and dedication to the college,” Keener says.

“In Political Science 101, Professor Glenn Brooks reminded us that good leadership is dependent on the cultivation of involved constituencies. Our AAB is challenged to involve and expand our alumni community and amplify our connections with the college’s students, faculty, administration, staff, parents, and Board of Trustees. I cordially invite alumni to share your ideas with our AAB team as we strive to build and expand the highest quality alumni network. We will count on your energy and synergy!”

Keener has been an active member of the AAB since 1995, chairing the Development Committee during that time. She has also co-hosted regional alumni events, worked on reunion committees, and served as a class agent and secretary, saying she feels close to the college and grateful for “a liberal arts experience extraordinaire!

As a student, Keener represented CC in national debate tournaments, was a member of the Tiger editorial staff, served as Panhellenic president and senior class secretary, and “enjoyed inspirational class discussions led by tremendously talented professors, as well as exploring the beauty of the Colorado environment and nurturing lifelong friendships.”

Keener is vice president of academic partnerships at American Humantics, a national alliance of colleges, universities, and nonprofit organizations that educates, prepares, and certifies nonprofit leaders.
