Virginia Parker Boucher was awarded the prestigious Angelo Heilprin citation from the American Alpine Club “for her many years of outstanding and dedicated service.” While at CC, Virginia worked in the library and was an active member of the Mountain Club. She retired 13 years ago and currently lives in Boulder, Colo.

Donald Cook has retired from the Monfort Children’s Clinic in Greeley, Colo. Since moving to Greeley in 1964, Donald has delivered more than 10,000 babies and has been a member of 67 medical and professional groups. Donald continues to travel, helping establish medical clinics for underprivileged children across the country.

The mayor of Woburn, Mass., recently appointed Donald Manzelli to serve as vice chairman of the Woburn Redevelopment Authority. Donald has been an active community member, serving terms on various business associations and participating in numerous community development projects.

As author of “Operation Restore America,” a novel about the U.S. Marine Corps published in 1998, <strong>Sara Sheldon ’56</strong> (center) embedded this year with the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force in Iraq. Sara spent two weeks in Camp Fallujah and Camp Taqqadum researching her next project, tentatively titled “The Few, The Proud: Female Marines in Iraq.”

Bruce Kellner has written a book, “What’s for Dinner Also Breakfast, Lunch and In Between, A Culinary Memoir,” published by White Sand Lake Press, which is owned by Sara Sheldon ’56. Bruce plans to bring copies of the book to his 50th reunion in October.

Gary and Judie Forster Esch have moved to Tonto Verde, Ariz., where they are happily pursuing retirement on the golf course.

Former CC hockey player Gordon Aamoth continues the Tiger tradition of excellence on the ice, skating with his team to win its third national senior Olympic gold medal in 2004. • Joan Jilka Luft has had a “remarkable year” celebrating the marriage of her two children and the birth of her first grandchild, and recovering from a long illness. Attendees at her daughter’s wedding included Friedrich Luft ’64, the father of the bride, as well as Janice Jilka McElroy ’60 and Cassius DeFlon . Joan also recently reconnected with her favorite CC instructor, Richard Beidleman, professor emeritus of biology. Joan lives in Indianapolis and is “happy to be alive.”

Bruce Batting writes: “At this stage I’m winding down a career of not having a career.” He teaches skiing at Monarch Ski Area in Colorado during the winter and hikes, backpacks, and fishes during the rest of the year. He lives in Rye, Colo.

Internationally renowned photographer David Burnett continues to impress critics and audiences alike with his award-winning images. Among the numerous honors he received in 2004, David won first prize in the World Press Photo competition (sports action series) and several prizes from the White House News Photographers Association. • Jerry Wainwright was named head basketball coach at DePaul University in Chicago after coaching for three years at the University of Richmond in Virginia. Jerry’s career coaching record is 186-144.

It’s a CC reunion every workday for John Killackey and coworkers at the United Way of Greater St. Joseph, Mo. In addition to John, a consultant on special projects, this eight-person office also includes Mary Prussing Mehl ’66, director of marketing communications, and Barbara Hornaday Wurtzler ’70, president. • Jane Lubchenco recently spoke at Colorado State University’s annual “Distinguished Woman in Science and Engineering” lecture. Jane addressed the much-publicized issue of gender and science, stressing that women too can excel in the field. Jane is a distinguished professor in the zoology department at Oregon State University. • Crete Crawford Wood and her husband, Chips, live in beautiful Carmel, Calif., where they are both realtors.
