she is pursuing a master's degree in divinity at Starr King School for

University's School of Medicine in Omaha, Neb. • Deb Robison
works for the Sierra Club in Boulder, Colo., as a federal lobbyist
and organizer. • Joel Schaefer completed a surgical
residency at the University of Florida in June 2002, and now works as
a general and trauma surgeon in Grand Junction, Colo.
• Chris Shadid is a resident in the college of
medicine's department of anesthesiology at the University of Oklahoma.

Alice Behrens DeVaney is pursuing a master's degree in
school counseling. She lives in Sparks, Md., where she is enjoying life
as a single mother to daughters, Blake and Morgan. She is looking for
other CC alumni in the Baltimore area for environmental projects, hiking,
and camping. • Sharon Gedack Dockery is a technology
specialist at Kilmer Elementary School in Colorado Springs. • Troy
Gedack is the gifted and talented coordinator at Manitou Springs
Middle School in Manitou Springs, Colo. • Pete Icke
and Myra Decomarmond were married March 14. They live in Gilbert, Ariz.,
where Pete is a systems analyst for Safeway, Inc. • Karla
Markendorf lives in Seattle, Wash., where she is an art therapist
and yoga instructor in private practice.

with their two sons. Andrew owns a mortgage company with fellow alumnus

Cynthia Butterfield has been a ranch hand on the Allen
cattle ranch in Crawford, Colo., since graduation. She also started her
own business selling grass-finished beef. • Karen Calderon

• Manuel Rendon is the technology specialist for
the Midwest Instructional Technology Center in Ann Arbor, Mich. •
Gina Gianarelli Taranto is a major gift planning associate
at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Denver. • Jennifer
Gregory Whitfield is a senior lecturer at Texas A&M University
in College Station, Texas. • Patti Wood is a second
lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, where she works as a personnel officer.
• Karen Badonie Sopko is practicing medicine at
the VA Hospital in Albuquerque where she will also be an assistant professor
with the medical school at the University of New Mexico. She finished
her residency in June and begins work in August. • After graduation,
Cindy Mitchell Endicott married Steve Endicott at Shove
Chapel. They moved to St. Louis where Cindy got her M.S. in physical therapy
at Washington University School of Medicine. After five years in St. Louis,
Cindy joined Colorado College as assistant athletic trainer in the sports
medicine department in July 1998. She and Steve live in Colorado Springs
and, together with their two very active boys - 2 and 6 years old - love
to play outside, play hockey, ride bikes, camp, and ski. • This
spring, Phil Brown completed his Ph.D. in economics at the University
of Michigan and accepted a tenure-track position at Colby College.

Mindy Klowden was accepted to the Denver Community Leadership
Forum, a group that works to address metro Denver's challenges and opportunities.
She also continues to advocate for the housing needs of low-income people
as the executive director of the Colorado Affordable Housing Partnership.

with his wife Michelle and their sons, James and Paul. • Todd
Mays and Heather McGuire live in Durham, N.C., with their daughter,
Riley. Todd is a science teacher and football coach at a local high school
and Heather is doing a fellowship in nephrology at Duke University. •

her Ph.D. at Cornell University. • Lynn Sandifer Cobb
is a project manager for the C.I.O. of McData, and serves on the board
of directors for the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Data Management Association.
She lives in Westminster, Colo., with her husband Andy and their daughter,
Rosie. • Sarah Gorecki is program coordinator for
Colorado Fourteeners Initiative in Golden, Colo. • Shawna
Hedlund and Jason Stinson were married March 16 in Minneapolis,

• Shawn Mitchell teaches social studies at Harrison
High School in Colorado Springs, where he also sponsors the student government
and is the head football coach and the assistant track coach. He vacationed
with friends Blair Berselli, Ryan Ehrhart, Neil Goluba,
and Josh Vitt in San Antonio, Texas for July 4, 2002,
and again in Memphis, Tenn., in January 2003.
• Hilaree Nelson, an extreme skier and mountaineer,
has competed in numerous contests around the world. She has also been
featured in films and videos, including Warren Miller's 2001 "Extreme
Winter" and the 2000 NBC adventure series - The North Face's "Descending
India." • Alex Salazar is director of the
Wentworth Gallery in La Jolla, Calif. • Stacey Sowards
is a professor in the department of communication studies at California
State University in San Bernardino. • After many years together,
Malia Sperry and Bill Crisco '97 had
a December wedding on the big island of Hawaii. Malia is in her final
year of a doctoral program in clinical psychology and working as a therapist
and school counselor. Bill owns a Web development company and has become
an avid surfer. • Dave Welz is the director of
marketing and business development for Sports Express, L.L.C., in Durango,

Spencer Bonnie is director of civic engagement for the
YMCA of the USA. He develops programs to help local YMCAs attract volunteers
and spends 40 percent of his time traveling. • After a summer spent
traveling, Sarah Gibb will be back in Cambridge, Mass.,
where she will be doing an internship in preparation for ordination as
a Unitarian Universalist minister. • Josh Gormally
is a landscape designer for The WLB Group in Tucson, Ariz. • After
three years in New York, Kenneth Harris is now painting in Venice Beach,
Calif. • Jack Hayes is a doctoral student in modern
Chinese history at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. •
Tim Hebert teaches math at Valley Falls High School in
Valley Falls, Kan.
• Bill Mangle and Kim Hampleman were married Sept.

School. • Jake Norton traveled to Africa, Costa
Rica, and Iceland for the Outdoor Life Network, where he photographed
a group of 12 competitors as they went through a "Survivor-like"
program. The top five finishers win a cash prize plus a trip to Everest,
which Jake will document with his camera.
• Jessica Osborne lives in Denver and is a city
planner for the City of Commerce City. • Kindle Rising
is a speech language pathologist for HealthSouth Rehabilitation Institute
of Tucson (Ariz.) • Dana Robertson and Michael
Halter were married April 6, 2002, in Redmond, Wash. Alumni in attendance

the World Wildlife Fund, where he works as a program officer. He was instrumental
in the WWF's shift to purchase 10 percent of the building's power from
a regional clean energy wind farm. • Joel Banslaben
is a policy analyst with Battelle Coastal Resource and Environmental Management
in Stony Brook, N.Y. • Cynthia Blea-Toland lives
in Fountain, Colo., with her husband Martin and their children, Ariana
and Kirk. • Karl Brunner is owner/captain of Downeast
Friendship Sloop Charters in Southwest Harbor, Maine, which sails from
June to October. Kurt is also refinishing an old Cape house on Mount Desert

Mo., where she lives with her husband Jason and their daughter.

Robyn Anderson is pursuing a master's degree in educational
leadership at Minnesota State University in Mankato. • Samuel
Beebe lives in Portland, Ore., where he is C.F.O. of Skate Oregon.
• J. Quinn Campbell attended the 4th International
Sports Engineering Conference in Kyoto, Japan, where he sat as the chairman
for a session on skis. He won the Young Investigator Award for his presentation
"The Design and Development of a Skate that Simulates Carved Alpine
Ski Turns." The design was a result of his master's degree work in
mechanical engineering from the University of Colorado.

'98 wrapped up a three-year stint in Ann Arbor, Mich., and are now living
in Seattle, Wash. • Kelli Gertsch and Jason Matthies
were married Oct. 5 in Cheyenne, Wyo. • Maggie Gilbrook
completed her first year of a three-year graduate nursing program

in the Silicon Valley as director of community outreach at EdVoice, a
non-profit public education advocacy group. • Andrea Swenson is
a neurology resident at the University of Iowa. • Natalie
Swetye lives in McLean, Va., and is an elementary teacher for
Fairfax County public schools. • Julie Schaller Wagne
lives in San Francisco and is working at the Berkeley Art Museum. •
Kathryn Webb attends graduate school at the University
