Vision 2010: The President’s Circle Making an Impact

Colorado College is meeting the goals of Vision 2010 in meaningful ways. More than 100 visionary leaders have joined the President’s Circle to make college history. These annual gifts of $10,000 have the effect of an additional $20,000,000 in endowment. As the membership increases, the impact will grow as well. The members of the President’s Circle are making it possible for the college to progress on some key elements of the president’s action agenda:

  • We have doubled grants for faculty-student collaborative research.
  • The President’s Circle funded two of our five additional tenure-track positions to be filled next year.
  • Academic departments will be able to better evaluate their performance with more frequent
    external reviews.
  • The well-received signature program, State of the Rockies, has been supported in part by President’s Circle members, with special funding from the Donner family.
  • “Western Skies,” a regional news magazine, is now broadcast by KRCC 91.5 FM, with stories being picked up by National Public Radio stations all over the country.
  • The Press at Colorado College is thriving.
  • New student programming will keep our students involved in campus-based activities, through funding of a campus coffee house — dubbed “Sacred Grounds”— to be located in the Shove Chapel basement, and by additional student-government funding for events.
  • Our student-athletes will have opportunities to play more appropriate competitor colleges and qualify for championships if we can establish our Division III programs in an athletic conference. President’s Circle support is helping us find the right group and negotiate participation.
  • President’s Circle support of college recruiting efforts is paying off. Additional admission staff and the creation of two new Trustee Scholarships are part of that picture. The result is the most highly qualified, diverse first-year class in three decades.

So, we are off and running! If you are interested in joining the President’s Circle, please contact
Diane Brown Benninghoff ’68, assistant vice president for advancement, at (719) 389-6777 or DBenninghoff@ColoradoCollege.edu
