Convinced
that she didn’t have the voice to sing professionally,
Margaret Fuller Simpson ’93
enrolled in nursing school after graduating from
CC. However, she continued vocal instruction; her
teacher eventually persuaded her to earn a master’s
degree in music instead of nursing.
Recent reviews lauded Simpson’s “vocal
pyrotechnics” and her “almost super-human
performance” as Marie in “Daughter of
the Regiment,” and called her performance
of “Glitter and Be Gay” in “Candide”
as “the high point of the production.”
With support from her long-time mentor Martile Rowland,
Simpson has won several vocal competitions and recently
performed with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic,
singing music from the Frasquita role in “Carmen”
and Rosalinda in “Die Fledermaus.”
