Two eras of Colorado College men’s soccer were united Oct. 20 when Patrick McGinnis ’05 tied the school record for goals in a single season. McGinnis scored twice in a 2-1 victory over DePauw University, giving him 33 for the season and a share of the record set by Andre Zarb-Cousin ’72 in 1970.
McGinnis also became the school’s single-season points leader with 74; he ranks sixth in career goals (55) and career points (135), despite playing only three seasons with the Tigers. Zarb-Cousin is in a three-way tie for third place with 63 career goals, and his 136 career points put him at fifth place.
McGinnis, who also leads the nation (all divisions) in both goals and points, helped the Tigers build a 14-2-1 record with three regular-season games remaining. CC’s .853 winning percentage is its best since the 1992 team went 18-2-2 (.864) and advanced to the national semifinals.
Women Harriers Win Three Straight
The women’s cross country team posted three consecutive first-place finishes this fall, winning the New Mexico Highlands Cross Country Jam in September, the Colorado College Autumn Classic on Oct. 2, and the college division of the Fort Hays State University Invitational on Oct. 9.
The Tigers finished 1-2-3 at their home meet at Monument Valley Park, led by Angie Kremer ’07 with a time of 24:25.2. Jenny Jorgensen ’05 was a close second, followed by Jeanine Stewart ’06. Jorgensen paced the Tigers at Fort Hays State with another second-place finish, while Christy Sweaney ’08 took second at New Mexico Highlands with 20:53.
Hockey Starts Strong
The CC hockey team got off to a good start by defeating Union College by identical 4-2 scores at home, Oct. 15-16. After four nonconference victories and a November split at North Dakota, the Tigers earned fourth and fifth spots in the national polls after being ranked 12th and 14th in the preseason. Defenseman Mark Stuart ’06 was named a preseason All-American by Inside College Hockey.

Malcom scored on bursts of 89, 65, 49, and three yards to pace a CC ground attack that compiled 580 net yards for the afternoon.
