Dolly Taylor MacPherson ’27, Colorado Springs, Sept. 21. Dolly was a retired office manager for the Building and Construction Trades Council in Colorado Springs. She was a member of the Friends of the Library and the Woman’s Educational Society.

Nancy “Maurine” Nilsson Gittzus ’31, Wilmington, Mass., May 13, 2004. Maurine was a retired educator. Survivors include her husband, Leo.

Edwina Creighton Forde ’33, Colorado Springs, Nov. 8. Edwina was a retired social worker. She was also a member of the Friends of the Library and the Woman’s Educational Society. Survivors include her nephew, Stuart Creighton ’47. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert ’29.

Elizabeth Sherman Hannan ’33, Saltillo, Mexico, Jan. 1, 2000. While a student, “Louise” was one of the founders of the Delta Gamma sorority. Survivors include her daughter, Elena Hannan ’72.

Winifred Vessey Metzler ’35, Colorado Springs, Nov. 5. Winnie was a retired teacher. She was an active member of the Fifty Year Club, serving as a vice president in 1989-90. She was also a member of the Friends of the Library and the Woman’s Educational Society. Survivors include her sister, Bernice Vessey Brenner ’39, and brother-in-law, Berlyn Brenner ’40. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.M. ’33.

Marcus C. Leahy ’40, Van Nuys, Calif., March 21, 2004. Marcus was a retired insurance agent. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite McFarland Leahy ’38.

Wilmer J. “Spike” Wilson ’43, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Sept. 13. Spike was an All-American center on CC’s hockey team 1939-1942, when they defeated many of the Ivy League and Midwestern hockey powers.

Felix P. Heald ’44, Baltimore, Md., Aug. 10. Felix was a pioneer in the field of pediatric and adolescent medicine. He served as chairman of the department of pediatrics at George Washington University Hospital and pediatrician-in-chief at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. In 1990, he was named pediatrician of the year in Maryland. Survivors include his second wife, Mary, and his daughter, Anne ’71.

Carl D. Otto ’44, Colorado Springs, Dec. 31. Carl retired after 35 years of service with Colorado Interstate Gas. Survivors include his wife, Shirley.

Thomas W. Ross ’44, MA ’47, Colorado Springs, Jan. 2. Tom was professor emeritus of English at Colorado College, where he began teaching in 1951. Tom was also a talented jazz musician, playing jazz clarinet and saxophone professionally in Colorado Springs from the age of 16. Tom’s principal jazz albums are “Tom Ross and the Tailgate Six” and “Blue and Sentimental,” a duo album with his guitarist son, Tom. Tom and his wife, Mary McCarty Ross ’45, were active members of the Fifty Year Club. Tom volunteered on both his reunion-giving committee and the development committee, and was a member of the Friends of the Library. In addition to his wife and son, Tom is survived by a daughter, Margaret Ross Couper ’94, MAT ’96, his brother-in-law, James McCarty ’48, his nephew, Thomas Wolf ’67, and his granddaughter, Emily Couper ’01.

William E. Kistler ’46, Annapolis, Md., Oct. 15. William retired in 1985 after working with the judicial information system of the Maryland state courts. Survivors include his cousin, Paul Kistler ’61.

John E. Pinkerton ’66, MA ’69, Colorado Springs, Oct. 31. He served in the U.S. Army for 22 years, and then taught in Colorado Springs School District 11 for 15 years. Survivors include his wife, Rosalyn Santerre Pinkerton ’56.

Jane T. Shaw MAT ’71, Colorado Springs, Nov. 10. Jane had a long and successful teaching career. After retiring from active classroom teaching in 1983, Jane served as an advisor to teachers-in-training for Colorado College’s department of education. Additionally, she was director of the Elderhostel Program at CC 1984-87, and was a member of the Friends of the Library and the Woman’s Educational Society. Survivors include her husband, Van Shaw, professor emeritus of sociology, and their son, Benson ’72.

Nathanial Pollack MA ’72, San Diego, May 24. Nathanial was a chaplain/rabbi, serving at the RJ Donavan Correctional Facility in San Diego. Survivors include his wife, Shirley.

Raymond C. Williams ’74, Deming, N.M., June 17. Raymond pursued his lifelong gift and love of writing until his death.

Stephen J. Frey ’76, Elko, Minn., Nov. 27, as a result of a car accident. Stephen, a physician, was remembered as a nonconformist who wore a black cowboy hat, grew beautiful dahlias, and blended Chinese and Western medicine for his patients. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Moesta Frey ’77, three children, Aven, Elsa ’08, and Nathan, and brothers, Robert ’72 and William ’74.

Sanda Robuck Shively ’78, San Diego, Aug. 10. Sanda was self-employed. Survivors include her husband, Charles.

Robert S. Patterson ’80, Cincinnati, Ohio, Oct. 21. Since 1990, Bob had been teaching at the Cincinnati Country Day School. He had recently resigned to pursue a career as a full-time writer. Survivors include his wife, Carol.

Isaiah Tucker ’03, Tokyo, Japan, July 31, in a high-speed train accident. Isaiah was teaching English to Japanese citizens under contract with Fuchu Nova Corporation. Survivors include his parents, Sami Tucker and Robert Crooks, two brothers, and one sister.
