Mary Bloom Vickerman ’32,
Colorado Springs, Sept. 15. Mary was employed at
Colorado College for many years between 1933 and
1969, including three years as night librarian at
Coburn Library, five years as secretary for the
athletic department, and 22 years as manager of
the bookstore. Mary was an active member of the
Fifty Year Club, serving as its correspondence secretary
1984-86. She was a development volunteer and a member
of Friends of the Library and the Woman’s
Educational Society. Survivors include her son,
Jay ’63. She was preceded
in death by her husband Samuel
’33.

Rouge, La., Oct. 2. Mary retired in 1985 from Ball
Aerospace in Boulder, Colo. She was preceded in

Gordon E. Harmston ’40, Salt
Lake City, Nov. 3. Gordon and his wife Clara
Abell Harmston ’43 established the
Frontier Grill in Roosevelt, Utah, in 1946, which
is still operated by his son. He was a member of
the Utah State Senate 1963-1967, and served as the
director of the Utah State Department of Natural
Resources 1968-1981. Survivors include his wife
and their six children.
Frank A. Colton ’41, Colorado
Springs, June 5. Frank was an investor. One of the
college’s most generous benefactors of his
era, Frank and his widow Vergie gave their residence
to the college to provide funds for a neuroscience
design laboratory in the recently completed Tutt
Science Center. In addition to Vergie, survivors
include two sons, John and Robert, and a daughter,
Roberta.
