CC Earns Top 10 Spot for Peace Corps Volunteer-Producing Colleges

The Peace Corps recently announced its rankings of colleges and universities that have produced the highest all-time number of Peace Corps Volunteers since the agency was established in 1961. And CC ranks seventh in the small-sized enrollment category!

  1. Oberlin College and Conservatory – 509
  2. Carleton College – 504
  3. St. Olaf College – 483
  4. Oregon Health & Science University – 444
  5. Middlebury College – 416
  6. Grinnell College – 370
  7. Colorado College – 365
  8. Macalester College – 362
  9. Smith College – 360
  10. Lewis & Clark College – 348

The Peace Corps is an international service network of Volunteers, community members, host country partners and staff who are driven by the agency’s mission of world peace and friendship. At the invitation of governments around the world, Peace Corps Volunteers work alongside community members on locally prioritized projects in the areas of education, health, environment, agriculture, community economic development, and youth development. Through service, members of the Peace Corps network develop transferable skills and hone intercultural competencies that position them to be the next generation of global leaders.

    My wife , Nancy (Lynn) Lewis, graduated from CC in 1965(?) and joined the Peace Corps. After training at Princeton with the PC entry program she spent two years in Tunisia teaching English. She thinks her PC years were among the best in her life.
