Soccer Players Earn Academic Honors
Four CC soccer players earned regional All-Academic recognition
from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)
in November. Senior defender Andrew Henscheid and senior midfielder
Stephen Heitkamp were named to the District VII All-Academic
first team in the college division. Senior defenders Molly
Holmes and Lia Martinez earned second-team honors in the district’s
university division.

Tiger Volleyball Earns 6th Consecutive
Tournament Bid
The Colorado College volleyball team earned its sixth
consecutive bid to the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament,
where they defeated Gallaudet University and lost to the University
of La Verne. The Tigers completed the season with a 27-11 record.
The six straight tournament bids under head coach Rick Swan
ties the school record, set in 1985 - 1990.

Sophomore Sarah Morrill set a single-season
record with 480 kills and became the first player in school
history to record more than 400 kills and digs in a single
season. Sophomore setter Heidi Schuldt set a school record
with 10 service aces as the Tigers beat Johnson & Wales
University in three games in October. Junior Aubrey Reed set
a new record for digs in a single season with 550. Junior
Kristina Rogers recorded a school-record 36 digs at Chapman
University.
Cross Country Teams Compete at Regionals
The men’s cross country team earned a bid to the NCAA
Division III national championship meet for the first time
since 1996 by claiming third place at the West Regional in
Estacada, Ore. The CC women finished a strong ninth. Eight
Tigers, including a school-record six from the 18th-ranked
men’s squad, claimed All-Region honors. Pacing the Tiger
contingent were senior Jesse Herrera and first-year Alex Reinhart,
who took seventh and eighth place, respectively, in the men’s
race. Herrera completed the 8K race in 25 minutes, 47.4 seconds,
while Reinhart came in at 25:49.3. First-years Besha Lu Deane
and Angie Kremer turned in All-Region performances for the
women, taking 31st and 35th place individually with respective
6K times of 23:43.5 and 23:51.7.
Quarterback Jay Macias Named Student-Athlete of the
Month
Senior quarterback Jay Macias was named the male Student-Athlete
of the Month by the Association of Division III Independents
for September. His school-record totals of 542 total yards
and 457 passing yards against Cornell were single-game highs
in Division III this season.
Junior wide receiver Jake Craig set a pair of school records
for receiving this year. He caught 12 passes for a single-game
record 236 yards against Rhodes College in October and finished
the season with a single-season record 937 yards.
Men’s Soccer Closes with Winning Season
Despite closing the season with a 2-0-1 record during its
final three games, the men’s soccer team did not receive
a berth in the 2003 NCAA Division III Soccer Tournament. The
Tigers finished the season with an 11-6-3 record, their third
consecutive season with a winning record.
