    Uploading Documents

First, upload the file into your "docs" folder within dotCMS; then you can link it to pages so that users can access and download them.

    Uploading Documents:

    • It's best to have a "documents" (or "docs") folder in the main level of content for your site in dotCMS. This will allow you to keep all your linked files in one place to allow for easier searching, sorting, and organization.
    • PDF files are the most convenient for viewing on the web because they can either be downloaded or viewed directly in most web browsers. Try to convert your files to PDF files before uploading them; this can be done with many types of files, including Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, images, and many more.
    • Make sure your document is named descriptively before uploading it.
      • "Block4MeetingMinutes2011-12.pdf" is a better name than "minutes.pdf"
    • ZIP files are most useful for combining, uploading, and linking to documents or folders of documents that should always be downloaded together.
    • See the training section for how-to's on uploading documents to dotCMS.
