2004 Conference

Our first State of the Rockies Conference, May 3-4, celebrated the Rockies with speakers and events including:

Charles Wilkinson, University of Colorado Law School professor and prolific author who spoke on "Endurance and Sovereignty among the Indian Nations of the Rocky Mountain West"; Ed and Betsy Marston, former editors of High Country News, who spoke on "Home and Hope in the Rockies: 20 Years of Observation"; former Colorado Governor Richard Lamm, now with the University of Denver Institute for Public Policy, who spoke on the "The Angry West, Revisited"; Jill Baron of the U.S. Geological Society Natural Resource Ecology Lab, who spoke on "Rocky Mountain Futures: An Ecological Perspective"; Thomas Sisk, professor at Northern Arizona University, who spoke on "Developing a Public Science that Can Weather the Politics of Resource Management in the Rockies"; a panel entitled "On the Rockies Front Lines - Community Organizations Confronting Change:; and the unveiling of the 2004 Colorado College State of the Rockies Report Card.
