Proposal Requirements to Retain Existing Riley Scholars

Updated October 28, 2020

The Dean of the Faculty invites renewal applications from programs and departments currently mentoring a Riley Scholar-in-Residence and would like to extend their participation in the program through the 2021-2022 academic year. Since the Riley Scholars-in-Residence Program (RSiRP) fellowship is for one-year only, there is no guarantee for approval to participate in the program for a second year. However, requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis through a renewal application process.

All applications should include the following:

  • A summary of the experience of participating in the program. This section should include the voices of the Riley Scholar, their department/program mentor, department members, and the chair/director.
  • A rationale for renewing the Riley Scholar's fellowship for an additional year:
    • a. Why does your department/program want to support the Riley Scholar for a second year?
    • b. How will the Riley Scholar's department/program mentoring experience build on the mentoring work from year 1?
    • c. How will the Riley Scholar continue to enrich and support the department/program curriculum?
    • d. How will participating in the program for a second year support the department/program's staffing needs?
  • An updated dossier of the Riley Scholar, including a plan for finding permanent employment.

Please submit applications to Dale Willson, Assistant to the Dean of Faculty, at by February 22 at 5pm. Approval decisions will be announced the first week of March.
