Public Events

Periodically, Beta of Colorado sponsors Colorado College events, including lectures by Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholars. In the spring of 2009, the chapter welcomed Betty Smocovitis of the University of Florida, who delivered the lecture, "Singing His Praises: Darwin and His Theory in Song and Musical Production." In the spring of 2010, Beta of Colorado co-sponsored a lecture by Charles Mills of Northwestern University on "Racial Liberalism." Jack Goldstone of George Mason University delivered a talk on "Global Population Trends and How They Shape Our Future Well-Being" in the fall of 2010, and Nina Rattner Gelbart lectured on "Frenchwomen of Science in the Age of Enlightenment" on 28 April 2011.
