For Peers

Dear Student,

Thank you for taking the time to fill out this recommendation form. Your input is incredibly valuable to us in determining the applicants who will make exceptional Honor Council members. We greatly appreciate your time and your continued support for the council.

The following is a brief overview of the Honor Council's function, aims, and standards that may provide some clarity, concerning what qualities its members strive to embody and practice: The Honor Council is a student-run organization that serves to uphold the Colorado College Honor Code and the values of honesty, integrity, and fairness in regard to academics.

In selecting new members, the council looks for those who are able to interact well with others and operate under duress, while maintaining a respectful, sensitive, and compassionate attitude. In your recommendation of your peer, please keep the following in mind: Try to imagine how they would act as a representative of an organization that is dedicated to the three aforementioned values as well as how they would handle difficult and potentially life-changing academic situations.

Please submit a statement, not to exceed one typed page, commenting on the character of your fellow student. Specifically speak about the applicant's ability to act with integrity and reliability, to engage with others from a variety of backgrounds, and to take initiative in confronting challenging situations. Why do you think this student would make an exceptional Honor Council representative?

Please attach a PDF file of your recommendation letter below, no later than Friday, December 18, 2020. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our Officer of Recruitment, Kieran Woerner at k_woerner@coloradocollege.edu.

Thank you so much for your input in this process.

Sincerely,

Bryan Swanson '21 & Megan Koch '22
Honor Council Co-Chairs
