Summer 2021 COVID-19 Visitor Guidelines

Colorado College is excited to welcome visitors to campus this summer. [1] We are prioritizing initiatives that serve our students, academic programming, and visiting prospective students and families. Hosting events will be restricted during the summer. However, Colorado College affiliates (those with a formal affiliation with the college, like students, faculty, staff, summer scholars, and visiting scholars) may continue to submit petitions to host on-campus events for Colorado College affiliates. [2] To mitigate risk and ensure the health and well-being of our campus community and prospective students and families, the college has adapted upcoming visit and event programming in accordance with our COVID-19 risk mitigation protocols until further notice. Please see the CC Alert Levels website for more information about risk mitigation and campus alert levels. If a visitor is exhibiting COVID-19 related symptoms, or cannot adhere to Colorado College’s risk mitigation protocols, we ask that they reschedule their visit.

The college will continue to allow visitors to attend approved outdoor athletic events. Visitors to the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College may continue to use the established reservation process. College affiliates may invite family members to visit campus outdoors while following social distancing requirements. We ask that faculty, staff, and students limit indoor time with family visitors and follow the college’s social distancing and indoor mask-wearing requirement. Visitors are expected to follow current CDC travel guidance.

The following general guidelines apply to all visitors:

  • Capacity Limits
    • College-led tours will be limited to small groups and preregistration will be required.
  • Mask Requirement
    • All visitors will be required to wear a mask indoors. Outdoor mask wearing is optional.
  • Building Access
    • College-led tours will include limited access to featured buildings (Worner, Tutt Library, a residence hall, Cutler Hall, and El Pomar Sports Center). During the tour, access to restrooms will be available in Cutler Hall. Access to other buildings will be restricted. Visitors to the FAC should follow FAC guidelines.
  • Social Distancing
    • All guests will be expected to maintain at least six feet of social distancing while on campus.

Campus Visit Registration Process

Prospective students and families, researchers, and other visitors who support our academic programming must follow the above guidelines and register prior to their arrival. Below is an overview of the visit registration process.

Admission

Prospective students and families are invited to explore Colorado College’s beautiful campus in an experience that is consistent with the college’s current policies for social distancing, mask wearing, and to ensure the health and safety of our visitors and community. Visit availability is limited and pre-registration is required. The college is not offering overnight visits at this time.

Colorado College is committed to providing students and families with a comprehensive look into life at the college. Visitors are encouraged to explore the virtual campus map to get acquainted with the campus prior to arrival. All presentations will take place outdoors where the risk of transmission is significantly lower. In the event of adverse weather conditions, presentations will take place at in designated indoor location.

Colorado College will continue to offer virtual tours and information sessions throughout the summer. If you are a prospective or newly admitted student, please visit our website for information about virtual tours and information sessions.

Academic Programming

Faculty and staff may petition for approval of summer visitors who are essential to the delivery of the college’s academic program and mission. As noted above, visits will be limited throughout the summer. The faculty or staff sponsor must submit a petition and receive approval. Once a petition is submitted it will be sent to the sponsor’s divisional leader for approval. Petitioners will be notified of the outcome as soon as possible. All requests must be approved by divisional leadership. Visitors will be required to follow the risk mitigation practices outlined in the Summer 2021 COVID-19 Visitor Guidelines.


[1] Visitors are defined as individuals or groups without a formal college affiliation. Affiliates are individuals with a formal affiliation with the college. For example, students, faculty, staff, summer scholars, and visiting scholars would be considered college affiliates.

[2] Dependents with a CC-issued ID are considered college affiliates and must follow the college’s risk mitigation protocols.

Submitting Proof of Vaccination

CC will require all students, faculty, and staff who are accessing campus for the 2021-22 academic year to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. All members of the campus community will be required to provide proof of vaccination or exemption by Aug. 1.
