Justin Weis, Associate Director Residential Life and Housing

The Associate Director is responsible for providing leadership for residence hall operational and maintenance needs, supervision of operations support staff, providing day to day coordination of the apartment and faculty housing program, the department’s sustainability initiatives, emergency planning, leadership and management for the department’s asset management, capital improvements and renovations, and area budget.  Justin has worked at Colorado College and the ResidentialLife and Housing Department for 12 years.

Yolany Gonell, Director of Residential Life and Campus Activities

Yolany has over ten years of experience in higher education, providing services and support that emphasize student-centered learning, residential education, social justice and diversity education. Yolany serves as the Director for Residence Life and Campus Activities, comprehensively integrating diversity and inclusion in the residence halls and working in cooperation to cultivate robust and transformative experiential opportunities on campus through a purposeful approach to student leadership development, intrapersonal exploration and community building. She holds a master's degree in social work from the University at Buffalo in New York and is committed to empowering youth and advocating for equity and access for underserved communities.

Kathy Butler, Room Assignments Specialist

The Room Assignment Specialist is responsible for determining housing assignments for on-campus students during the academic year and summer sessions.  The position also oversees the wait list process and room changes, approves or denies requests for students applying to live off campus, maintains residential records and occupancy reports, resolves student concerns, and serves as the primary contact for parents and students with housing questions, suggestions, or complaints.  Kathy has worked at Colorado College for 10 years.

The Accounting Coordinator is responsible for processing the paperwork for all expenses and revenues from managing the P-cards, to budget development, project management, processing payments for the entire department, and performing other clerical duties for the department.  Sandy has worked 8 of her 16 years at CC, in the Residential Life and Housing Department.

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the Residential Life Leadership Team and others in the department, delivering direct services to students, conferences guests and staff, supporting the developement and implementation of strategic planning and training programs. Meg Ortiz - Operations Coordinator

The Operations Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative support to the Assistant Director in managing inventory control, updating website, and coordinating departmental events and conferences, providing assistance to students, conference guests, and staff, and conducting research and analysis to assist in the design and implementation of departmental strategies and employee training materials. Meg began working at Colorado College in the fall of 2013.

Campus Activities Team

Bethany Grubbs, Senior Student Life Specialist

The Senior Student Life specialist acts as an advisor to student event planners, provides student leadership workshops, and oversees the large all-campus student events. She works to ensure that students on campus are able to build community through attending events and getting involved in organizations. Once students are engaged on campus, she also works to help them build skills and expertise through their membership in organizations and their planning of their own events. Bethany has been with the College for 6 years and transitioned to Campus Activities from Residential Life and Housing in her third year.
