Update on External Review of Racism

Dear Campus Community,

Last week, Professor Roger Worthington of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion in Higher Education, who is leading CC's external review of racism, returned to campus and met with the review's steering committee to share a draft of his initial report. Professor Worthington was in residence at CC in Block 3, and this report is phase one in the external review.

At the meeting, the steering committee shared input, including identifying some minor factual errors and pointing out some gaps in the analysis. Professor Worthington agreed to consider this input and will submit his finalized report later this week. The report will be released in its entirety at the beginning of Block 5 when Professor Worthington will be on campus to discuss it with us (January 21).

In the coming month, we will organize the next steps in the external review, including a series of specialized consultations and campus visits by national experts. We will also begin to assign specific recommendations to key stakeholder groups for consideration and implementation.

We are grateful to all of you who have engaged in this process, and we look forward to our continued work together.

Sincerely,

The External Review of Racism Steering Committee:
