Statement from President Tiefenthaler on NUS Resolution
August 6, 2014
Similar to my stance on the American Studies Association's recent resolution to boycott Israeli academic institutions, I am opposed to the National Union of Students vote to adopt a policy of boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel. I believe these types of policies are a threat to academic freedom, which is the foundation of the academy. However, I recognize that there are others, including at Colorado College, who support the resolutions of the ASA and NUS. As always, I respect civil discourse and engagement on this issue, as that too is a hallmark of academic freedom.
