Policies and Compliance Update - New Website

September 9, 2013

Dear Campus Community,

Last year, I launched an initiative that would not only improve the effectiveness and clarity of college-wide policies, but also create a digital repository in order to consolidate all of the college’s policies in one place. As a result of the hard work of individuals and departments across campus, I am pleased to announce that we have launched a new Policies and Compliance website.  This site will house all of the college’s campus-wide policies, making our policies more transparent and readily accessible.

There are a few things to note about this new site.  First, the policies found on the Policies and Compliance site were either: (a) policies that were in existence prior to the creation of the new site (some needed minor updating) or (b) policies that were recently adopted because they were required for compliance requirements.

Going forward, any new policy will be posted on the website with an open-comment phase of at least 30 days.  When a policy is entered into the open-comment period, we will notify the campus and send out a reminder two days prior to the closing of a policy’s open-comment phase.  This process will give the campus community an opportunity to provide feedback on any campus policy (and, I expect, in many cases, to improve them) and also provides information about new policies so that you can all begin to help with implementation.

Prior to the implementation of this new website, college-wide policies were often hard to find and identify.  Now, thanks to this effort, all of the college’s policies can be found in a single, centralized location online.

I would like to thank the institutional policies committee members who helped execute this project: Yolanda Lyons, Jeff Noblett, Stacy Davidson, John Lauer, Barbara Wilson, Debby Fowler, Jermyn Davis, Greg Capell, and Vish Paradkar.
