U.S. Department of Labor Update

Dear members of the campus community,

You may have heard that the U.S. Department of Labor came out with new salary regulations for exemption from overtime.  Over the past few months, I have charged members of my cabinet to work with the Office of Human Resources to review these new regulations, and to determine possible strategies to ensure that the college is in compliance with federal law.

The college must comply with the new regulations by December 1, 2016. Each cabinet member is meeting with Human Resources to review the exempt positions in their respective divisions where the staff member in that position has a current salary of less than $913 per week. Human Resources will host another information session on the DOL regulations on Friday, September 2, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the Yalich Boardroom, first floor of the Spencer Center.
