Temporary quota increases
The Help Desk is happy to accommodate special circumstances by temporarily increasing one or more of these quotas for you. Examples: you are unable to send an important email because you’ve just hit the size limit and don’t have time to find items you can delete, you are working on a project for the next two months which requires the exchange of many large PDF attachments over email, you need more space for your class website this block in particular and can remove it afterward, etc.
Permanent quota increases
If one or more of these quotas is insufficient for your needs in the long term, please contact the Director of User Services at 389-6941 or email the Help Desk at HelpDesk@ColoradoCollege.edu to request a permanent quota increase (be sure to include the reason).
While storage space is getting cheaper, space on the network is still quite expensive and so we try our best to keep costs down while still providing the network storage you need. Often, alternative methods (such as archiving old email to an external hard drive or storing large amounts of pictures on a DVD) are preferable since they are far less expensive ways of achieving more storage.
A permanent quota increase should only be requested if there’s a specific need for more storage on the network, either because the files are confidential, important enough that the superior backups of network drives is required, or there is a need to access the files from any computer on or off campus easily, etc.
The Help Desk is happy to consult with you about the best solution for your data storage needs, and increase your quota accordingly if it is part of our assessment.
