Please note that when you change your password, papercut will stop working if you're using a Mac.  You can fix this by opening "Keychain Access", deleting the saved password for papercut, and then trying again (it will prompt for your username and password the next time you print).

  1. Open the Apple menu and select "System Preferences."
  2. Select "Print & Scan." and click "+" to add a printer.
  3. Hold the "Control" key on the keyboard, and click the empty space in the toolbar.  From the small menu which comes up, choose "Customize toolbar"
  4. Click and drag the "Advanced" sprocket onto the toolbar and click "done"
  5. Click the new "Advanced" option you just added, and wait for it to load (about 10 seconds).
  6. Pull down the "Type" dropdown box and change it from "Fax" to "Windows printer via spoolss"
  7. In the main section labeled URL, type smb://print.coloradocollege.edu/papercut
  8. Change the "Name" field to papercut as well (recommended but not required, name it what you wish)
    1. Note that you can also bypass papercut and map directly to a specific printer.  Just type the appropriate printer name here instead of "papercut"
  9. Click the "Use" dropdown and choose generic postscript printer.
  10. Check "Duplex Printing Unit" when asked to note that the printer is capable of double sided printing.
  11. The first time you print, it will ask for your username and password.  It will autofill the wrong username (firstlast).
Make sure you change this to your cc username (usually f_last, ex. j_doe)

If you install papercut and jobs don't display on the printer to release, it means there is some kind of problem with the username and password you entered.  If you told it to remember, search for "keychain access" and delete the keychain labeled "papercut" - it should then prompt for your username and password again.  If coloradcollege.edu\f_last doesn't work, try it again without the ".edu" (coloradocollege\f_last).
