The Spanish in Spain Summer Program will have its base in Soria in collaboration with The International Center Antonio Machado (CIAM). Soria is a small and tranquil city in the region of Castile – birth place of the Spanish language - where by tradition the people speak a rich Spanish. It is surrounded by picturesque towns and landscape, the sight of which will be difficult to forget. Also, Soria is a wonderful place to practice outdoor activities like hiking, canoeing, and horseback riding with many small neighboring towns full of art, architecture, and history. The location of the city is north-central Spain, at a distance of 140 miles north from Madrid. Students will live with host families and participate in the city life during the 6 weeks of classes. Additionally, the program will provide excursions to various cities such as San Sebastian, Madrid, and Burgos, among other locations.
