Heather Kissack
Heather joined the CC Human Resources team as the Director of Human Resources in January 2019. She worked previously as the Director of Human Resources at the University of Dallas, and, prior to that role, she worked at Hill College in various HR positions, most recently as the Executive Director of Human Resources and Institutional Development. Heather possesses a Ph.D. in Human Resource Development from Texas A&M University, an M.S. in Management from Northeastern State University, and a B.A. from the University of Oklahoma.
Heather is active in the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). She serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Industrial and Commercial Training.)

Kara Deschenes
Kara joined the CC Human Resources department in August of 2019 after serving as the Director of Human Resources for USA Hockey. Prior to moving to Colorado Springs, she worked in several HR capacities including Senior Manager of Talent Acquisition and Retention for Pasco County Schools, serving over 80 K-12 schools, outside of Tampa, FL. Kara holds a B.A. in English and Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida. Kara earned her Senior Certified Professional certification from the Society of Human Resources, where she is an active member. She also presented at several national education conferences including the American Association of School Personnel Administrators (AASPA) and Scholastic.

Ellen Steinlein
Ellen joined the CC Human Resources team in April 2020. She is originally from San Francisco, California, where she held positions in human resource selection, training, research analytics, and professional development in the public and private sector. From 2007-2016 Ellen also served on the evaluation committee of the Great Place to Work Institute where companies competed to be listed in Fortune Magazine’s “Best Places to Work” list. Her latest role before joining CC was as Senior Organizational Development Specialist for the Human Services Agency of San Francisco, providing professional development programs for front-line employees that worked with the city’s most vulnerable population. She is most passionate about partnering with people to support their professional growth. Ellen holds a B.S. in Global Business, and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Redlands. She completed her M.S. in Industrial Organizational Psychology at San Francisco State University.

Jessica Bridge
Jessica, who is originally from Greeley CO, came to Colorado College as the administrative assistant for HR in the spring of 2015. She started her 12 year career in the United States Air Force where she was able to experience an array of positions in the administrative field across the United States and Germany. After separation, Jessica focused her time on attaining her BA in Organizational Management and worked toward her MA in Organizational Development and Leadership through Ashford University. The University of Arizona was her next stop where she spent three years in the Financial Services Office as the executive assistant.

Laurie Mozingo
Laurie came to Colorado College in 2014 after having served as Vice President of Compensation & Benefits at Junior Achievement in Colorado Springs. Her expertise in benefits spans over 15 years. Laurie has a BS in Sociology from Lamar University and a MBA from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. In addition, Laurie holds certifications as a Senior Professional in Human Resources, a Certified Compensation Professional and a Certified Benefits Professional.

Pam Butler
Pam’s career in HR began in 1988 with Walter Drake and Sons where she managed payroll and benefits processes, employee relations, policy development and communications, served as editor of the employee newsletter, and led the implementation of an automated time and attendance system. Pam joined Colorado College in 1998 as an Employment Specialist. In this role, Pam was instrumental in the college’s conversion to the Banner enterprise-wide database. Pam’s current role includes oversight of the HR module of Banner and supporting the salary administration, job classifications, and talent acquisition functions. Pam attended the Detroit College of Business and has participated in numerous HR professional development seminars with Mountain States Employers Council.

Gina Lujan
Gina began her career at CC in 2006 as the Office Coordinator in Human Resources and now provides expertise in the benefits area. Prior to CC, Gina worked at Hawaii Pacific University for 13 years where she served in support roles to the Dean of the College of Natural Sciences and the Director and Dean of the Military Campus Programs. Gina has a BA in Human Services and a MA in Human Resource Management.

Matt Cherry
Coming to CC in 2013, Matt provides technology support across all HR functional areas (HRIS, Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Performance Excellence). Prior to CC, he worked for the Colorado Springs School District 11 and George Mason University in the HR department where he supported the recruitment and onboarding programs. Matt has BS from the University of Northern Colorado and an MS in IT Management from Regis University.

For this reason, we use Verifent to confirm verification of employment and/or verification of income (VOE/VOI) requests are legitimate, and a permissible purpose exists as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Verifiers seeking employment and/or income information for a Colorado College employee must submit VOE/VOI requests through Verifent.

To Submit a Request:

  1. Log in at Please note that new Verifent users will need to register and create an account before proceeding.
  2. When prompted, enter the following organization code for Colorado College: C975A3. 
  3. Please be prepared to provide the Colorado College employee's date of birth and last four digits of the social security number.  Additionally, uploading proof of consent, signed by the employee, is required to complete a request.
