Assistant Vice President for the Residential Experience

The Assistant Vice President for the Residential Experience serves as the Senior Housing Officer (SHO) for the college in addition to supervising the Housing and Conference Manager, Maintenance and Projects Manager for Student Life, the Director of the Residential Experience, and the Director of Campus Safety.
Dr. Edwin Toshio Hamada, started his role as Assistant Vice President for the Residential Experience at Colorado College in September 2020. Prior to joining Colorado College, he served as Associate Dean of Students/Director of Housing and Residence Life at Washington State University. He also has worked in various capacities at the University of Washington, University of California - Irvine, and San Jose State University. He has a BA in Psychology from the University of San Francisco, a MS in College Student Personnel/Student Development from Western Illinois University, and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Washington.
He has served as a faculty mentor for ACUHO-I STARS College and values authentic, mentoring relationships. He looks forward to returning to a small liberal arts institution where he can get to know more students and staff. When he is not advocating for students and staff at work, he spends his time tinkering with a few classic cars and hiking with his wife, Sue, and their 2 dogs.

The Administrative Assistant provides administrative support to the Associate Vice President for Student Life and is responsible for managing the faculty apartments which provide temporary housing for visiting faculty. Kim also manages the annual Student Health Insurance Plan waiver/enrollment process for all CC students. Kim has worked at Colorado College since 2012.

Rochelle Taylor

The Housing & Conference Manager iimplements multiple room assignment and selection processes, maintains residential records and resolves student concerns, develops policies and procedures to increase efficiency and improve customer interface and office experience, analyzes data to produce reports and inform concerning future housing needs and occupancy predictions, serves as the primary housing contact for students and parents, provides leadership in the planning and implementation of summer conference operations, and supervises the room assignment specialist, administrative assistant, and housing paraprofessional. Rochelle began working at Colorado College in Winter 2015.

Room Assignment Specialist
The Room Assignment Specialist is responsible for providing administrative support to the Housing & Conference Manager, assisting with various room assignment and selection processes and functions, to include: new student housing assignments; both undergraduate and pre-college summer session housing assignments; coordinating Gap housing and early arrivals; maintaining housing and access software; updating the website; providing room reassignment assistance to students and staff; and conducting research and analyses to assist in the design and implementation of departmental strategies and employee training materials. Makayla began working at Colorado College in Summer 2018.

The Administrative Assistant serves as a point of contact for visitors and callers to the office and also provides direct assistance to the Housing and Conferences Manager, the Director of the Residential Learning Experience, and the Maintenance and Project Manager for Student Life.
