John Lauer, Associate Vice President for Student Life

The Associate Vice President for Student Life serves as the Senior Housing Officer (SHO) for the college in addition to supervising the director of campus safety and emergency management, the director of the wellness resource center, the director of the counseling center, and the director of the on-campus ice rink.  John began work at Colorado College in 2007 and has held multiple positions in higher education for nearly 30 years. John is active in the Association of College and University Housing Officers-International (ACUHO-I), and is leading CC’s participation in that association’s 21st Century Project.

Kim Taylor, Administrative Assistant

The Administrative Assistant provides administrative support to the Associate Vice President for Student Life and is responsible for managing the faculty apartments which provide temporary housing for visiting faculty.  Kim also manages the annual Student Health Insurance Plan waiver/enrollment process for all CC students.  Kim has worked at Colorado College  since 2012.

Justin Weis, Associate Director

The Associate Director is responsible for providing leadership for residence hall operational and maintenance needs, supervision of operations support staff, providing day to day coordination of the apartment and faculty housing program, the department’s sustainability initiatives, emergency planning, leadership and management for the department’s asset management, capital improvements and renovations, and area budget.  Justin has worked at Colorado College since 2002.

Rochelle Taylor, Room Assignment & Conference Manager

The Room Assignment & Conference Manager is responsible for determining housing assignments for on-campus students during the academic year.  This position also provides leadership and coordination for all residential conferences hosted by Colorado College on its main campus, as well as select residential and one-day events at the Baca Campus to include negotiating and developing contracts, managing reservations and logistical requirements, reviewing and approving invoicing, and managing marketing efforts. The position oversees the wait list process and room changes, approves or denies requests for students applying to live off campus, maintains residential records and occupancy reports, resolves student concerns, and serves as the primary contact for parents and students with housing questions, suggestions, or complaints. Rochelle began working at Colorado College in the Winter of 2015.

Meg Ortiz - Room Assignment Specialist

The Housing Specialist is responsible for providing administrative support to the Room Assignment & Conference Manager and the Associate Director.  This position assists in housing assignments for the academic year, coordinates housing assignments for both undergraduate and pre-college summer sessions, coordinates Gap housing and early arrivals, maintains the housing and access software, updates the website, coordinates departmental events, provides assistance to students and staff, and conducts research and analysis to assist in the design and implementation of departmental strategies and employee training materials. Meg began working at Colorado College in the Spring of 2014.

Sandra Yowell, Accounting Coordinator

The Accounting Coordinator is responsible for processing the paperwork for all expenses and revenues from managing the P-cards, to budget development, project management, processing payments for the entire department, and performing other clerical duties for the department.  Sandy has worked 8 of her 16 years at CC, in the Housing and Conferences Department.

Conference Specialist

The Conference Specialist provides assistance to the Room Assignment & Conference Manager in the coordination for all residential conferences hosted by Colorado College on its main campus, as well as select residential and one-day events at the Baca Campus to include responding to RFPs, coordinating reservations and logistical requirements, assisting in marketing efforts, supervising student staff, and coordinating event reservations for the department.

Ken has worked at Colorado College since April of 2011 as a maintenance worker for Old Town (Bemis, McGregor, Montgomery, and Ticknor) and Western Ridge (Antero, Blanca, El Diente, John Lord Knight, and Edith Gaylord).
