Our Language Studies Grant from the Mellon Foundation
In December 2011, Colorado College received a $509,000 grant from the Mellon Foundation to support development of our language curriculum.
Like our 2009 Mellon grant, this 2011 award has provided funds to encourage our language faculty to experiment with different pedagogies. It has also supported faculty from across the disciplines to achieve greater language proficiency and incorporate language study into their courses.
The College will issue its final call for proposals in the fall of 2013 for activities to take place through the summer of 2014. The grant will conclude on September 30, 2014.
Remaining funds will primarily provide 1) stipend support to faculty who wish to develop on-campus FLAC and language-related courses; stipend and travel support for faculty who wish to develop courses to take place in the Mediterranean, Latin America or Asia; support for faculty who wish to achieve greater language proficiency and incorporate language study into their courses.
Upcoming calls will be posted on the ALLFAC listserv.
