Volunteer Action partners with West Elementary School to mentor third and fourth grade students throughout the school year. Mentees are brought to the CC campus and other places in the Colorado Springs community to do after school activities with their mentors on the first and third Wednesday of each block from 3:00-5:00 pm.
"My work with Volunteer Action keeps me engaged with the Colorado Springs community and constantly thinking about new opportunities for our students. It has been a meaningful learning experience and one of the most rewarding activities I participate in at CC. Relationships form quickly between Colorado College mentors and their elementary school student mentees as they visit the zoo, explore our campus during a photo scavenger hunt, and learn about nutrition while making healthy snacks together. Volunteer Action makes real changes in the lives of the students it serves. Their teachers report improved self-confidence and classroom attentiveness."

"Volunteer Action has been one of the best experiences for me. Volunteer Action provides each Colorado College mentor ability to impact a young persons life through otherwise ordinary activities. As one of the college's oldest volunteer based organizations VA provides both the mentee and the mentor with the opportunity to develop more self-confidence in a truly mutually beneficial relationship."
