Campus Resource Officer

Jason came to Colorado College as the Campus Resource Officer in August of 2010, when the program was created. He has 9 years of experience in law enforcement, including four years with the Sherwood Oregon Police Department, in Sherwood Oregon, prior to transferring to the Colorado Springs Police Department. In 2008 Jason was named as one of the Hero Cops by Parade Magazine and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. That same year, he also received the Oregon Peace Officer Medal of Honor.

During his time with the Colorado Springs Police Department, his primary focus was on narcotic investigations. Prior to the creation of the campus resource position, Jason would volunteer to meet with students and discuss such things as the importance of being a good neighbor on- and off-campus, how to host safe parties, and personal safety.

“Whenever they needed a volunteer to talk at CC, I would jump on it. I’d go whenever there was an opportunity to talk with the students.” In 2010 the program was created and Jason jumped at the opportunity, giving up a position on the Colorado Springs Police Department Metro Vice/Narcotics/Intelligence Division to become the full time campus resource officer.  “When this job came up, I saw it as a tremendous opportunity. I’m really excited about it and I want to put myself in the community. I want to be a part of as many things as I can,” Jason says.

A native of Wisconsin, he is a 2003 graduate of Western Oregon University, where he studied criminal justice, minored in psychology, and ran track.
