Officer Jason Newton came to Colorado College as the Campus Resource Officer (CRO) in August of 2010 when the program was launched. He has eleven years of experience in law enforcement, including seven years with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD). Jason has been instrumental in helping improve the college’s emergency preparedness while building relationships across the college’s faculty, staff and students. The CRO meets with students to discuss such things as the importance of being a good neighbor on- and off-campus, how to host safe parties, and personal safety. Jason holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Western Oregon University. He is a graduate of the Northwestern University Supervision of Police Personnel class and is currently attending Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command. The CRO maintains an office within the department of Campus Safety, but is employed by CSPD.
