Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act

Sex Offender Registry and Access to Related Information:

The Federal Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act went into effect October 28, 2002. The law requires institutions of higher learning to advise the campus community about where to find information concerning registered sex offenders. The law also requires registered sex offenders to provide specific notice to each campus with which the person is associated as an employee, student, or other connection. The Colorado Bureau of Investigations maintains sex offender registry information, which is publicly available via the Internet. The data include the offender's name and aliases; the nature of the offense; the date and place of the conviction; date of birth; current address and photograph.
