Annual Colorado Springs Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration

Please join us to commemorate Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his continuing legacy on Monday, January 17, 2022 for an All People's Breakfast. This year’s events will be virtual to keep our community safe and in accordance with COVID-19 guidance and guidelines.

Hear personal stories from local trailblazers in government, education, and the arts, including: Councilmember Yolanda Avila, Colorado Springs City Council;Lt. Gen. Richard Clark, superintendent, U.S. Air Force Academy; Representative Tony Exum, Sr., Colorado State Assembly; Dr. Mike Edmonds, Colorado College sr. vice president;Chancellor Joe Garcia, Colorado Community College System;Rosemary Lytle, President, NAACP State Conference; Chancellor Venkat Reddy,University of Colorado Colorado Springs; President L. Song Richardson, Colorado College; Peggy Shivers, the Shivers Fund at Pike's Peak Library District; Ashley Paul, African American Youth Leadership Conference (AAYLC) student of the month; Khaleigh Reed,AAYLC student of the month. We will also have a special appearances by Debbie Howell, Colorado College Elder in Residence; Minister Eric Graham, Emmanuel Baptist Church; and Pikes Peak Poet Laureate, Ashley Cornelius.

As usual, the MLK Day Community Events will be a fundraiser on behalf of the NAACP and Pikes Peak Justice & Peace Commission through ticket sales. Tickets can be purchased here; the suggested donation is $5 but we welcome you to give as much, or little, as you are able and do not want cost to be a burden.
