Winter Start Orientation Underway

Students Head Off-Campus on Priddy Trips

Winter Start Orientation kicked off Saturday, Jan. 10 as 55 winter starts and six transfer students moved into the residence halls and attended a variety of weekend orientation events. On Monday, Jan. 12, the winter start students boarded vans headed for CC's Baca campus, located at the base of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, and the transfer students headed for Santa Fe, N.M., for their five-day Priddy Trip. At the Baca campus the students work in small groups at various sites in the area, which includes the San Luis Valley and Crestone. The transfer students work with Habitat for Humanity on a house that CC students have been involved with for two years. Among the students attending this year's Winter Start Orientation are those who started in the fall semester abroad program in Salamanca, Spain.

Classes begin on Monday, Jan. 19 and will run until 11:15 a.m., when the campus gathers for First Mondays, a campus-wide event held the first Monday of each block. The Block 5 event, which falls on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, features clips from the documentary "Soundtrack for a Revolution," produced by Dylan Nelson, assistant professor of Film and New Media Studies. Block 5 runs Jan. 19 through Feb. 11.
