Festival Runs Through June 29
The Colorado College Summer Music Festival launches its 30th anniversary with a "Friend-Raiser Opening Event" on Tuesday, June 10, featuring the Extasis Tango Quartet and Tango dancers Nicholas Jones and Diana Cruz in the Cornerstone Arts Center, 825 N. Cascade Ave. Wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served at 5:30 p.m. in the Main Space, followed by a concert in Celeste Theater at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are $25; bring one new festival friend free and additional friends for $5 (limit 3). The concert season begins at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 12 in Packard Hall, 5 W. Cache La Poudre St. Festival artists perform music by Haydn, Schumann, Martinu, Francaix, Hovhaness, and Arensky. Tickets are $30, $25 with a CC ID, and $5 for students at any institution with an ID, and are available at the Worner Information Desk, 902 N. Cascade Ave., TicketsWest or www.ticketswest.com A free pre-concert lecture by Michael Grace begins at 6:15 p.m. in Packard Room 9. Attending these pre-concert lectures is like taking a mini-block in music history – for free!
