Political Science Professors Look at 'Six-Year Pushback'

Colorado College Political Science Professors Tom Cronin and Bob Loevy co-authored the lead article in The Denver Post's Perspective section on Sunday, July 27. The article, titled "The Six-Year Pushback," states that "Voters tend to vote retrospectively rather than prospectively, especially in the sixth-year elections."

The authors look at sixth-year election results dating back to 1938, when Franklin D. Roosevelt was president, and pose the question: How big will the six-year pushback be for candidates in Colorado, a decidedly "purple" state. The two professors, who frequently co-author op-ed pieces, also are the authors of "Colorado Politics and Policy: Governing in a Purple State."
