Milliet, Sullivan Named MW Players of the Week

Captains Lauren Milliet '19 and Kelli Sullivan '19 were named the Mountain West women's soccer players of the week for their efforts while leading Colorado College to a pair of non-conference victories last week.

Milliet received the offensive award for the first time in her career after recording three goals and an assist during the two games.

In Friday's 4-1 victory over the University of South Dakota, Milliet struck for the first hat trick of her career. She put the Tigers on the board early in the 10th minute and made it 2-0 precisely 20 minutes later with what proved to be the fourth game winner of her career.

With a little more than 18 minutes remaining in the game, Milliet completed her hat trick when she took a through ball from junior forward Clara Richter and sent a crossing shot from the left side into the Coyote net.

Milliet became the 13th Tiger to score three or more goals in a game and the first since Brittney Lyman struck five times in a 5-2 victory over UTEP on Oct. 30, 2009. Milliet's hat trick is the 21st in program history.

During Sunday's 2-0 victory over Army West Point, Milliet set up Richter's game-winning goal late in the 7th minute by sending a perfectly-place pass over Army's back line.

Sullivan, who received the defensive recognition for the first time, played all 180 minutes during the two games and now has played all 551 minutes this season.

In the two victories, Sullivan organized CC's back line which allowed only one goal and 16 shots, only eight of which were on target.

In the win over Army, Colorado College defense allowed only seven total shots, four of which were on frame, while recording its first clean sheet of the season.

South Dakota's only goal came on a quick re-start of a direct kick.

The Tigers play their final two non-conference games this week at Yale University on Friday and the University of Connecticut on Sunday.
