Max Grossenbacher ’16 Named Academic All-American

Max Grossenbacher '16 joined an exclusive list of Colorado College student-athletes when he was named to the 2015 Academic All-America® Division III men's soccer team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Grossenbacher, who owns a 3.80 grade-point average as a biochemistry major and music minor, is one of 34 men's soccer players nationwide to receive the nation's most prestigious academic award. He was among 11 voted to the second team.

The midfielder became the 23rd Tiger and eighth men's soccer player and to receive the award.

Grossenbacher, who previously was named Offensive Player of the Year by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, led the league with 27 points and nine assists, and tied for first with nine goals. He earned all-conference honors for the third year in a row, and is a two-time first-team selection.

With his assist on Robert Malone's game-winning goal during the 4-0 victory at Austin College on Oct. 23, Grossenbacher became the 28th player in program history to record 50 or more career points. The product of Austin, Texas, completed his career tied for 24th with 58 points, 25th with 21 goals and tied for 27th with 16 assists.

Off the pitch, Grossenbacher volunteers with Food Rescue, a student organization which limits on-campus waste by collecting food and delivering it to organizations such as Marian House and Urban Peak to feed the community's homeless.

Colorado College finished the season with a 14-3-3 overall record and an 11-1-2 mark in the SCAC.
