Kellie Palmblad, a candidate for the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree, has received an International Teaching Award through the Institute on International Teaching. The $5,000 award will allow her to travel abroad to finish her student teaching. Palmblad will travel next spring to either New Zealand or Norway, which will mark the beginning of her work in instruction as an international educator.
Palmblad is doing her master’s work in English Language Arts and completing research in the uses of creative writing instruction. The importance of integrating global education and cultural diversity through personal connection is part of her personal teaching philosophy.
