Lara's thesis named top undergraduate paper at national social science conference

Colorado College senior Christen Lara's thesis, “The Anatomy of a Likely Donor: An Analysis of Philanthropic Giving in Higher Education,” was named best undergraduate student paper at the National Social Science Association's National Technology and Social Science Conference in Las Vegas in April. Lara’s research uses a statistical model to predict which alumni are likely to donate money to their alma mater. She analyzed Colorado College alumni data to predict likely annual fund, major and planned-giving donors. As winner of the undergraduate prize, her paper may be published in an upcoming NSSA journal. Lara is a senior majoring in economics and anthropology.
