Andrew Vierra, a senior philosophy major, presented a paper in March at the George Washington University Philosophy Conference. His paper was entitled "No-self and Ethics in Nishida Kitaro," and it was adapted from his Senior Essay project on the writings of this 20th century Japanese thinker. This is one of two undergraduate conferences in which Andrew was invited to participate this semester.
Along with another senior philosophy major, Maggie Ruble, Vierra also received a Venture Grant to attend the 2013 Central Division Meeting of the American Philosophical Association, in New Orleans. Andrew described it as a "fantastic" experience," so filled with interesting topics that, in his words, "looking at the conference program was like trying to decide which bands to see at a big music festival."
