Colorado College's Director of International Programs Publishes New Book

Charlotte Blessing, director of international programs at Colorado College, has written a children's book told from perspective of a pair of shoes. "New Old Shoes" was inspired by the colorful secondhand clothing and shoe markets in East Africa, where she lived for 13 years.
The story is narrated by a pair of red sneakers and follows their journey from their first home with a young boy in America to children in Africa. After the sneakers begin to look worn, the boy's family sends them to Africa, where they are received with much excitement and their adventures continue.

This book helps children realize how they can help other youngsters around the world by something as simple as donating a pair of old shoes, and includes information on Soles4Souls, an organization that collects shoes and donates them to those in need.
