Colorado College English Professor Mason's novel wins national award

Colorado College English Professor David Mason’s verse-novel, “Ludlow,” has been named the “Outstanding Poetry Book of 2007” by the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum (formerly the Cowboy Hall of Fame). Mason’s novel revisits one of the cruelest chapters in the history of American labor — the Ludlow coal field massacre of 1914, in which 18 men, women, and children of coal mining families were killed by the Colorado National Guard. Mason also is the author of a collection of essays, “The Poetry of Life and the Life of Poetry,” and has co-edited several textbooks and anthologies.
