Colorado College Chapter of Mortar Board Wins Three Awards

The Colorado College chapter of the Mortar Board, a national honor society, was presented with the Silver Torch Award and two Project Excellence Awards for the 2008-2009 academic year. CC was one of 67 chapters to receive the Silver Torch Award, an award recognizing outstanding leadership, scholarship, and service among college seniors, at the national conference held in Chicago this summer.
Additionally, CC was one of the 28 groups to receive a Project Excellence Award, granted to chapters with notable scholarship, leadership, fundraising, service, literacy initiative, alumni involvement or Mortar Board Week projects. Colorado College was recognized with two awards: one for "The Colorado College presents David Axelrod," in which the group brought the chief strategist and media consultant for President Obama's 2008 campaign to campus; and another for their participation for the sixth consecutive year in cleaning up the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. Ericka Baer '10, current chapter president, accepted the awards on behalf of the CC chapter.
