We are excited to announce that Cheanna Gavin (Feminist & Gender Studies '18) will be participating in the Undergraduate Pre-Health Program, a partnership between the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and Kaiser Permanente Health Plan of Colorado.
One main goal of both of these organizations is to "increase the number of historically underrepresented individuals within the health care professions for the purpose of reducing health disparities among underserved communities in Colorado." In this program, then, Cheanna will learn about and engage in discussions about health disparities, health policy, and social justice issues that impact equity in healthcare. Additionally, in the summer of 2018, Cheanna will have the opportunity to participate in an internship directly involved in career exploration with the Colorado School of Public Health, School of Pharmacy, School of Medicine, College of Nursing, Graduate School, and the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Last, she will have the opportunity to work in both clinical and scientific research areas, as well as to shadow healthcare professionals.
