CC trio receives Arthur Ashe honor

Three student-athletes from Colorado College recently were announced as recipients of the 2007 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars Award.

Three student-athletes from Colorado College recently were announced as recipients of the 2007 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars Award. They are Katlin Okamoto of the women’s soccer team, Melanie Auguste of the women’s basketball team, and Kiran Moorty of the cross country and track and field teams. The Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars Award recognizes athletic and academic achievement among minority collegiate student-athletes. It is presented annually in conjunction with Diverse: Issues In Higher Education magazine. Okamoto and Moorty, who graduated in May, earned first- and third-team recognition, respectively. Auguste, who will be a junior this fall, was a fourth-team selection.
