CC Tennis Teams Earn ITA All-Academic Honors

The Colorado College men's and women's tennis teams were among 221 Division III squads to be honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as All-Academic Teams for the 2016-17 season.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any member program that has a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2016 and spring 2017).

"We are really proud of both the men's and women's teams," says head coach Anthony Weber. "It's the second time in three years that both programs earned Academic All-American honors. We have a great group of kids who once again excelled on the court and are constantly pushing themselves in the classroom."

The CC women's team had a 3.46 grade-point average for the past academic year, while the men's squad put together a 3.37 GPA. CC was one of only 68 Division III schools to have both teams earn the distinction, joining Austin College and Southwestern University from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

In addition, five women and four men from Colorado College were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for posting at least a 3.5 grade-point average during the 2016-17 academic year.

Maddie Cahill-Sanidas '17, Erica Salhus '18, Simone Hall '19, Annie Zelvor '19, and Morgan Smith '20 were honored from the women's team, while Jack Benham '17, Jason Gutierrez '17, John Williams '17, and Noah Forman '20 earned the honor from the men's team.
