CC’s summer classes keep students busy on and off campus

  • Colorado College students are taking a variety of courses around the globe this summer, ranging from archaeological field methods in Costa Rica to the socio-economic development in contemporary Cuba to the culture, conservation, and change among the Sherpa of Nepal. These are among the 15 international courses and more than 50 domestic courses offered by the college this summer. Other courses offered on campus include The Graphic Novel, Sociology of Everyday Life, Existential Philosophy, Cosmology, Antigravity, and the Runaway Universe, and Book Arts and Letterpress.

    Each summer in addition to CC and visiting students taking courses, either on campus or off, the college also offers a variety of summer educational opportunities for precollege students, plus Enrich Your Life courses for community members.

    • Summer Session is an opportunity for rising high school seniors, college students visiting from other institutions, and CC students to take undergraduate for-credit courses during the summer months. Three blocks are offered. Popular classes this summer are Sociology of Everyday Life, Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Molecular and Cell Biology, and Geology of the Pikes Peak Region. Students are housed together in a residence hall and have the opportunity to participate in various outdoor programs.
    • The Southwest Scholars Program allows high achieving, high school seniors from Colorado,New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, or Texas to take a Summer Session class on a full scholarship.
    • College Ahead! is an 11-day enrichment program for Colorado rising high school juniors. Eligible students live in Colorado, attend under-resourced high schools, are members of populations that have historically been underrepresented at Colorado College or are the first generation of college students in their families. Students live on the Colorado College campus, take a class with other College Ahead! students, and experience life as a college student in a stimulating and supportive environment.
    • The Enrich Your Life series of non-credit summer classes and workshop for community members and friends allows participants to get a taste of what classes at Colorado College are like through one- or two-day weekend classes. Classes are offered through July 28. Check out the offerings at
