CC Professor David Mason wins Colorado Book Award for Poetry

David Mason, professor of English at Colorado College, has won the Colorado Book Award for Poetry for his verse-novel, "Ludlow." The award was announced on Oct. 8 in Denver. Mason's novel revisits one of the cruelest chapters in the history of American labor - the Ludlow coal field massacre of 1914, in which 18 men, women, and children of coal-mining families were killed by the Colorado National Guard.

Jessy Randall, Tutt Library archivist and curator of special collections, was a finalist in the same category for her book, "A Day in Boyland." CC English Professor Jane Hilberry was awarded a 2006 Colorado Book Award for her book of poetry, "Body Painting." The Colorado Book Awards recognize outstanding contributions by Colorado authors, editors, illustrators and photographers.
