Colorado College earned its 16th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Women's volleyball championship and will play Maryville College in the opening round on Friday, Nov. 15, at Emory University in Atlanta. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
The Tigers, 33-4 during the regular season, are making their 23rd overall appearance in the national tournament. CC, which advanced to the Elite 8 in 2009, owns an all-time record of 12-22, including an 8-15 mark under head coach Rick Swan.
Maryville, 24-15, earned an automatic bid by outlasting Averett University, 25-23, 15-25, 25-21, 21-25, 18-16, in the championship match of the USA South Athletic Conference playoffs.
The Scots are making their 11th NCAA tournament appearance.
Friday's winner will face either Claremont Mudd Scripts (24-6) or Thomas More College (24-5) in the second round. On the other side of the regional bracket, Emory (30-4) plays host to Agnes Scott College (11-17), while Berry College (25-7) squares off with Washington & Lee University (28-6).
The Tigers feature five players who earned all-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honors.
Freshman outside hitter Abbe Holtze, who was named Freshman of the Year was joined on the first team by sophomore setter Devon Lucero and sophomore libero Sophie Merrifield.
Junior middle hitter/team captain Kristen Liberty and sophomore opposite hitter Courtney Birkett were second-team selections.
Colorado College is one of three SCAC members in the 64-team field. Trinity University and Southwestern University both were placed in the San Antonio regional.
