CC Hosts 2 Martin Luther King Jr. Events on Campus

Colorado College will host two Martin Luther King Jr. events this year. The first is the traditional Closing Celebration, which will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 18 in Shove Memorial Chapel, 1010 N. Nevada Ave. The celebration is preceded by a march from Acacia Park, which begins at 3:45 p.m. This year's service features an address by Joe Rogers, the former Lt. Governor of Colorado.

The second celebration is a concert at 12:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 19 in Perkins Lounge, located on the first floor of the Worner Campus Center, 902 N. Cascade Ave. The concert will feature gospel music by "Rev. Dennis Mose & Friends," readings of King's speeches and open mic time to reflect on King's contributions and impact. Rev. Mose is assistant pastor at New Resurrection Baptist Church in Colorado Springs and associate director for the Gospel Music Workshop of America Choir, a group which has performed at the college's annual gospel concert for several years. Both events are free and open to the public.
